An interlocking gate eye is used at the opposite end of the gate hook as a "hinge" for the gate. Eye rotates around stud terminal to prevent twisted wires. The eye on the standing part of the wire rope stops the lifeline from going slack when the gate is opened. Ensure the opposite end of the lifeline will fit through stanchions to complete run.
