This beautiful woodblock print, Hana-Gatami ("Flower Basket"), from a Noh play, is by Ryoshu Yamaguchi (1886–1966). Published in 1955 by Kyoto Hanga-in, this piece showcases Yamaguchi's expertise in Noh-ga (Noh paintings), a form of Japanese painting that focuses on Noh-related subjects. Note the use of mica in the background and the intricate detailing with silver mica. The artist's signature and red seal are located in the upper right corner of the image. This print is an excellent choice for collectors seeking a stunning framed display of Japanese culture.  Ryoshu Yamaguchi was born in Kyoto in 1886. He was a Japanese painter who studied under Kokyo Taniguchi and became especially famous for his Noh paintings.
