The superb woodblock print "Hōboku" (Pasture) is by Sadao Abe (1910-1969). This heartwarming view of a pasture in Hokkaido is rendered in warm hues, featuring a tranquil scene with sheep. The print originates from an old estate in southern Hiroshima and is rarely seen on the market. The artist's red seal, "Sada,"  in the lower right corner of the image. It comes with its original folder, titled "Mokuhanga, Hōboku, Abe Sadao saku, jizuri"(Tequnique: Woodblock print, Title: Pasture, Artist name: Sadao Abe <printing by himself>) Sadao Abe was born in Tokyo in 1910 and achieved significant recognition as a print artist under Junichiro Sekino in 1954. He masterfully applied traditional multi-color woodblock printing techniques to modern subjects, producing works that depict the city of Kushiro and the natural landscapes of eastern Hokkaido. In his later years, he focused on capturing the mountains, lakes, and forests of Hokkaido, creating works notable for their dramatic compositions
