Soap Berries
Berries instead of soap? These soapberries are eco-friendly and an alternative for those sensitive to traditional laundry detergents. These dried berries are grown on a tree and come from the Lychee fruit family. When agitated in water, they produce a natural surfactant, saponin, which gently cleanses laundry. They even soften clothes! Soapberries have been used since ancient times for washing by Asian and Native American cultures. Simply place 4-5 soapberries in the provided cloth bag and toss in the washer with your clothes. Berries can be re-used until paper thin, at least up to 10 times. Clothes come out smelling fresh and clean and super soft. Use soapberries until they lose their dark, deep color, become paper thin, and are brittle when dry.
