Kusha Grass / Darbha Grass /Kush

Kusha is a holy grass used by Hindus in many rituals. According to Hindu mythology, Kush/ Dharva grass originated from the hair of Baraha, the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Kush is considered sacred and is used to purify offerings offered to God. In Nepal there is a tradition where Kush is collected and distributed by priests on the day of Gokarna Aunsi / Kushe Aunsi, which is also the Nepalese version of Fathers Day.
