An Egyptian Malachite Stamp Seal Amulet, Late Period, ca. 664 - 332 BCE

A seal amulet, by its very existence, guaranteed the survival of the deceased's name for all eternity.  This concept is reinforced in this example by the use of malachite, as any hard stone has connotations of lasting for eternity.Condition: The amulet is intact and in excellent condition overall.Dimensions: Height: 1/2 inch (1.27 cm)Provenance: Private Maryland collection of a diplomat, acquired while serving in Egypt between 1949 and 1956, and then by descent.
