A Published Parthian Gold Bead Necklace, ca. 1st century BCE - 1st century CE

A round barrel-shaped bead of sheet gold over clay, with protruding ends, decorated with lightly incised ribs around the body. Published: Jewelry from Persia: The Collection of Patti Birch (Schmuckmuseum Pforzheim, 1974), no. 52. Medium: Gold Dimensions: Bead length: 7/8 inch (2.01 cm).  Strung on an adjustable 18K yellow gold chain adjustable up to 18 inches.Condition: Some minor wear that does not detract, the bead is in overall good condition. Provenance: Patti Cadby Birch collection, thereafter Henry Anavian, NYC, then by descent to family.
