When I began my college education, I studied music. Ear training chewed me up and spat me out, so I switched to art, much to my parents' consternation, who worried about what their daughter would do to earn a living. I've done just fine in life with my art training, and I still draw analogies between my current profession of painting and my former life as a musician. One of these concepts is the notion of "color chords," the harmony of a few colors that underpins a composition and helps it to gel. I enjoy exploring cityscape subjects because they highlight vivid color harmonies, like this cross street from midtown Manhattan.
