Study, A Ticket to Ride

I may be dating myself a bit here, but one of my favorite television ad campaigns of all time was the classic Southwest Airlines "Wanna get away?" series. (Check out this example on YouTube if you need a refresher). Anyways, the past couple of months have been a little bit "wanna get away" for me, and in this subject from midtown Manhattan, I saw the magical potential of escape. The resonant lights and colors of the city combined with a bus that can take you where you want to go. This is the initial study for a larger painting, A Ticket to Ride.
