Cuban Oregano / Karpuravalli
$10.50
An interesting and unique culinary herb called Cuban Oregano in America, but actually native to South India and the tropics. Cuban oregano is a succulent, crawling herb that does very well in shady and semi-shady environments. The plant has the aroma and taste of traditional Italian oregano, but in a thick and juicy leaf. Cultivated in many subtropical and tropical environments where Italian oregano doesn't grow well, and well adapted to Southern California. Also used therapeutically in Ayurveda to treat cut, sores, and wounds. Traditionally, juice from leaves was applied topically to soothe and disinfect. A related plant we carry, Vick's plant, is used similarly.
