Paolo Conterno Barbera D’Asti Bricco 2021, Piedmont

100% Barbera from a single cru called “Bricco Uffizio,” located in Penango, north of the town of Asti.  25-year-old vines grown at 250-270 meters above sea level.  Calcareous clay and loam soil.  Macerated for up to two weeks and aged for nearly a year in large oak.  1,400 cases produced. WS 91 pts.  Camphor, cherry, blackberry and spicy pipe tobacco aromas and flavors highlight this complex, succulent red. Balanced and solidly structured, with a long aftertaste of fruit, earth and savory notes. Drink now through 2028. 1,400 cases made, 467 cases imported.
