Vinous 97 pts.  "The 2021 Riesling Heiligenstein Alte Reben contains the oldest vines of the estate planted in 1923. The average age of vines is 65 years old, with some ungrafted, picked in the heart of the Heiligenstein from mid-slope terraces on Permian sandstone. It was fermented spontaneously in large barrel and stayed on gross lees. Just 4,700 liters were made in 2021. While a slight touch of blossom honey opens the nose, there is zero botrytis. This is followed by a slight herbal lift of hayflower, dried yarrow and the lifted sense of dried lemon peel. The palate has absolute precision, coming in with clear-cut freshness—mineral and precise. A citric, slightly astringent but thrilling backbone of zestiness is supported by a core of hard stone. This is beautiful, poised, serene, and deep, with Riesling's inherent majesty on display. Taut, bright, regal, and eternal, this is all the aroma, mouthfeel and depth you want.
