Popular artist Wallace Nutting traveled throughout New England and the United States giving lectures as minister, photographer, author, furniture maker, collector and antiquarian. Born in Rockbottom, Massachusetts, in 1861 and buried in Augusta Maine in 1941, Nutting left an amazing legacy of hand-tinted photography and published books, as well as furniture highly coveted by collectors. For the first time, Wallace's lavishly illustrated series of "Beautiful" books on his beloved New England states, have been combed for the best examples of historic architecture, sketched and photographed by Nutting in his effort to preserve these structures for future generations.
