And his declarations concerning the person of Christ were meant to refute the many antichrists already in the world. Much of his letter is a battle for the truth in the Church’s decline.  However, in the midst of John’s battle, Robert Govett highlights our becoming children of God by being grafted into Christ the Son, enjoying His grace:   -“Our God is a personal God….We know the true God who has revealed Himself.
