  This listing is for a Purpleheart Hanbo Staff, and is an upgrade to common rattan staffs. The Hanbo Staff or half-staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. These particular staffs are 36" to 42" inches in length and have a constant diameter of 1,1/8 or 1,1/4" throughout making them appropriate for the heaviest applications or for weight training. The materials consist of Purpleheart wood. These staffs may or may not be laminated depending on wood quality and availability.  42" staffs can function as a shorter jo staff or a longer Hanbo staff. The standard Hanbo size is 36"It is finished with several coats of linseed and beeswax oil, which causes the purpleheart to have a rich dark purple color.
