  This listing is for solid Ipe Hanbo Staffs. The Hanbo Staff, Half Staff or Short Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in the art of Kobudo style martial arts. Ipe is very hard exotic heavy wood, making these hanbo have a very heavy feel. The traditional length for a hanbo staff is 36", This listing has several lengths available. Including 42" which is a cross between the feel of a jo staff and a hanbo. All the staffs here have a constant diameter of 1 inch. Ipe comes to twice as hard on the janka hardness scale as Hickory, making it able to resist denting more.. It is one of the hardest woods in the world. It has an amazing smooth sturdy feel  and beautiful heavy dark brown color. These staffs are finished with several coats of Traditional Linseed oil, which is preferred in the Martial Arts due to its smooth feel, while still maintaining the ability for a firm grip.
