Thin Solid Ipe Hanbo Staff, 36" x 15/16"

       This listing is for solid Ipe Hanbo Staffs. The Hanbo Staff, Half Staff or Short Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. Ipe is very hard wood, making these Hanbo have a very heavy feel. The length of these hanbo staffs is 36" and its width is 15/16" making them slightly thinner and lighter than the standard 1" staffs.  This staff is suitable for someone smaller wanting a beautiful ipe staff with slightly less weight than normal. Not recommended with contact.  Ipe is twice as hard as Hickory, making it able to resist denting. It is one of the hardest woods in the world. It has an amazing smooth sturdy feel and beautiful heavy dark brown color. Each is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil and sanded to a fine finish, which gives it a permanent shine and amazing feel in the which allows the hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff.
