Smithsonian Trilobite (Megistaspidella) Fossil Replica

Master Replicas officially licensed SMITHSONIAN TRILOBITE REPLICA is now available to collectors worldwide!  Our fossil replica of an extinct marine arachnomorph is meticulously re-created from a high-resolution scan of an actual trilobite fossil from the collections of the Smithsonian Institution.  The Department of Paleobiology at Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History allowed our artisans behind the scenes to examine its world-class collection and select an ideal fossil specimen upon which to base our replica, a fossil with a balance of visually interesting characteristics and a distinct and defined structure, allowing us to meet exacting manufacturing standards.   Once the fossil specimen is selected, it is scanned and rapid-prototyped to create master patterns that are then molded for production.
