In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole. It was a Hobbit Hole, and that means comfort. J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, brought to the big screen in an epic trilogy. Wētā Workshop was thrilled to return to Middle-earth once again, contributing design, specialty props and specialty costumes to all three films. Every Hobbit Hole is unique, expressing the personality of its inhabitants with colour, prettily adorned gardens, furniture, and the rustic debris of everyday life.An unpainted front door sets this home apart from the rest, but it is no less cosy. Capitalizing on the natural earthen tone of the front door, a warm autumnal hue peppers the surrounding trees and ivy, creating a subtle yet inviting abode. This gorgeous little environment is an exacting miniature replica of the movie set that can be visited at Hobbiton in Matamata, New Zealand. It was designed by the same artists and craftspeople who worked on the movie. Bright round doors in summery hues
