Zingiber Mioga

(MIOGA GINGER) Unusual edible plant that grows in cool winter areas. It forms a colony of stems 30-40” tall and 3-4’ wide with pretty green leaves on stems that provide the tropical look of ginger in a temperate garden! This is a winter dormant perennial. All parts of the plant are edible, but the delicacy is the orange-yellow, fall flower buds that form at the base of the plant that are a prized ingredient in Asian noodle dishes. Easy in loose, fertile soil, enjoys morning sun or light shade and regular moisture.
