Animosity - Shut It Down

SSR023 Hailing from San Francisco, Animosity was one of the biggest bands coming out of the west coast in the early 2000’s. They had an ultra aggressive style that nobody else could touch . At its core, “Shut It Down” is considered metalcore, but it has hardcore, grind, and old school death metal sprinkled in such a way, that gives it that distinctive sound. The guitar is absolutely relentless. The riffs are ridiculous. The breakdowns are bouncy and punishing, and the two steps are just plain catchy! The drumming on this album is super unique with Navene’s style being extremely technical , and precise but also having a sort of swagger to them. Follow all that with Leo’s distinctive vocals: a blend of death metal/ metalcore style vocals, but with an almost kind of hardcore flow. All of it culminating into an incredibly distinct sound that took over the scene at the time.
