The steel panels are replaceable and can be easily installed if one of the panels happens to be damaged. They tested the fire resistance by placing the cabinet in a burn chamber where external temperatures exceeded 1700 degrees. The inside temperature never rose above 350 degrees. This is more than enough to protect important paper documents because paper will start to burn at 460 degrees.  An added bonus to the cabinet is the water resistance and impact resistance it has.
