Confession and Purification Jangwa གསོ་སྦྱང་དང་སྦྱང་བ། 忏悔与净化 May 26, 2025
The Confession and Purification Jangwa at Sed Gyued Monastery is a profound tantric ritual rooted in Vajrayana Buddhism, aimed at purifying negative karma and facilitating the spiritual liberation of the deceased. Central to this practice is the Jangwa Puja, which employs the transformative powers of mantra, meditation, and the Buddha's words of truth to assist those who have passed away—especially those in the intermediate state—by guiding their consciousness toward rebirth in a Pure Land, human, or deva realm. This ritual often incorporates the Medicine Buddha Jangwa, invoking the healing energies of Bhaisajyaguru to bless the remains of the deceased and purify their karmic imprints. Through offerings such as butter lamps, ritual cakes (tormas), and communal prayers by the monastic community, the ceremony not only benefits the departed but also generates merit for the living. By participating in or sponsoring this sacred rite, individuals can honor their loved ones while contributing to their spiritual journey beyond this life.
