Tara Puja is a sacred prayer ceremony in Tibetan Buddhism dedicated to Arya Tara, the female Buddha of compassion, wisdom, and swift protection. Tara embodies the enlightened activity of all Buddhas and is especially revered for her compassionate energy that swiftly responds to the needs and prayers of practitioners. During the puja, practitioners recite praises, mantras, and prayers to Tara most notably the 21 Praises of Tara. Offerings of flowers, incense, light, and symbolic substances are made to invoke her blessings. Through visualization and devotion, participants connect with Tara’s enlightened presence, receiving her protection and compassionate guidance.
