Burpee's Golden Beets

These 2 inch globe beets have a sweeter milder flavor than darker colored beets. The roots are a beautiful orange color that turn to a bright golden color, once cooked. These beets stay mild in taste, even when they get bigger in size, and don't bleed and stain like red beets. These leaves can also be grown for sweet, flavorful, tender salad greens. Personally, I hate beets, but I grow them because I love to eat beet greens. My favorite way to eat them is sauteed in a little butter with garlic and onions. How To Grow Sowing: Sow beet seeds in well-worked, well drained soil in full sun. Beets are sensitive to acidic soils and prefer a pH of 6.0 – 7.0. If your soil is more acidic, add Garden Lime as directed on the bag. Sow thinly, in rows 12 inches apart and cover with ½ inch of fine soil. Seedlings emerge in 14-21 days. Thin to about 3" apart, when seedlings
