Romanesco is a widely grown and prized variety in Italy, and grows exceptionally well in cool northern areas of the country. It requires growing conditions and care similar to other broccoli, but other than that, the similarities between Romanesco and other broccoli varieties end there. Its Fibonacci-inspiring spirals create beautiful patterns that make this vegetable as attractive as it is tasty. It has a mild, nutty taste, and will compliment both cooked and fresh dishes. How To Grow Sowing: Broccoli grows best in cool weather, so starting your seeds indoors, 5-6 weeks before the last expected frost, will ensure a faster more successful crop. Right before the last frost, and when the seedlings reach about 6 inches tall, plant them 1-2' apart in rows 2-3' apart. For direct sowing seeds, plant them 1"
