Included are branching varieties, as well as single stemmed varieties. Sunflowers are easily grown from freshly harvested Helianthus annuus seeds. The plants grow to a collective height of over 5 feet tall and will produce many shades of red, orange and yellow. Each plant displays medium to large sized heads, accented with dozens of large, spade shaped leaves. Sunflowers are known to attract all sorts of beneficial insects to the garden, such as butterflies, bumblebees, honeybees and even hummingbirds as well. Helianthus annuus is categorized as an annual flowering plant, meaning that the plants will grow quickly from freshly harvested seeds. The plants then bloom for a short period of time, to later die with the first fro
