We Taste: Fig, Chocolate, Walnut Hendra Maulizar’s journey in coffee began long before he opened his own station — he grew up steeped in the craft as the son of a coffee producer in Aceh. In 2010, he planted his roots in Pantan Musara Village, starting with just one acre and, over time, expanding to 10 hectares through dedication and a deep connection to the land. Rather than following the typical path of selling cherry to other mills, Hendra forged direct relationships with a small community of about 50 farmers whose care and commitment to quality reflect his own. He personally sources their harvests and shepherds each lot through processing, ensuring every step aligns with his standards. Around 2014, Hendra shifted his focus from volume and commodity trade toward specialty coffee — investing in his own wet mill equipped with gravitational wash channels and raised drying beds.
