This will help to improve drainage and fertility. Plant your seeds directly in the ground when the soil temperature has reached at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Plant the seeds about 1/2 inch deep and 36-48 inches apart. Water your cucumbers regularly, especially during hot weather. They should receive about 1 inch of water per week. When the cucumbers are about 6 inches tall, you can start fertilizing them with a balanced fertilizer. Fertilize every two weeks until the plants begin to flower. Muncher cucumbers can grow to be quite long and heavy, so it is a good idea to provide them with some support. You can use a trellis or tomato cage to help the plants grow upwards. Cucumbers are ready to harvest when they are about 4-6 inch
