Tomato - Cherokee Purple - Lycopersicon lycopersicum Tender Annual Indeterminate. Heirloom. The short vines of Cherokee Purple produce purple-pink-brown flattened globes weighing 10-12 ounces. The tomatoes are delicious with a pleasantly sweet, rich flavor. With thin skin and soft flesh, the fruit is somewhat perishable. This variety is reputed to have been grown originally by the Native American Cherokee tribe. Did You Know?
