From the Artist: Muchacho de la Sandía (The Watermelon Boy) is inspired by the work of one of my favorite Mexican painters: Rufino Tamayo. The original painting is currently on display at the Mexican embassy in Paris. For some reason, watermelons have always been depicted in Mexican art, perhaps because of their colors. They can be found, for example, in the paintings of Frida and Diego and in my childhood textbooks. So, I found it amusing to revisit that idea and create a sort of pin-up series of sensual boys savoring watermelons: a perfect way of talking about Mexican artists in Paris. I was thrilled with the idea of a collaboration with the masters of silk-screen printing at Serio Pres
