Creativity Explored x SFMOMA: Laron Bickerstaff Sign Language Hoodie

An SFMOMA Exclusive! Illustrated by Laron Bickerstaff Laron Bickerstaff creates radiant portraiture and stream-of-consciousness text-based artwork. Bickerstaff communicates with American Sign Language and is deeply aware of the visual characteristics of language. In his work, he mixes his own observations with a pop-influenced love of the brand names that populate everyday life: celebrities, stores, food and drink, and institutions. Bickerstaff is known for his use of bright geometric shapes to assemble his abstract and stylized figures and scenes. Bickerstaff’s ASL font is used here to represent SFMOMA.  Creativity Explored is a studio in San Francisco that partners with artists with developmental disabilities to celebrate and nurture the creative potential in all of us. Creativity Explored was founded by Florence and Elias Katz, an artist and a psychologist duo who believed that art is essential to life.
