  “Mother to Be” 2016  12”x9”- Oil on Fine Art Paper (Frame NOT Included) Contemporary Art/ Surrealism Original painting by Sharmaine Rayner 5+ Layers of paint. Clear coated to preserve the paint and color and protect against chipping, scratching, or uv damage. Painting of pregnant woman standing in the ocean.  The baby inside her can be seen in this painting. This painting was inspired by three women in my life who want to have children.  In one case, the woman was told that she would not be able to have children and the image bears a likeness to her.  When I posted this painting online for the first time, my friend commented "Is that me?"  and I responded "yes". I am pleased to announce that she now has a beautiful girl.  I am not saying that this painting had anything to do with her successful pregnancy, however, the power of intention, grace, and coincidence sure makes this painting extra special in my heart. At this time there are many viewpoints with regard to pro-life decisions.
