Sgraffito vase

A work of art that is functional! Sgraffito is Italian for scratch. The process begins by painting the freshly thrown vase with slip or underglaze. The design is then very carefully and methodically scratched away leaving a brilliant contrast between painted and unpainted areas. Design is created "on the fly" - no two pieces will ever be alike.  Blue underglaze is a pretty sky blue. Dimensions: Width: 4.75 inches Height: 4.5 inches Photo is taken under studio lighting. Actual product color may vary slightly.  Items are handmade in my New England seacoast studio. They may be similar in shape and color, but no two pieces will be exactly alike. These differences are to be expected and make each piece of pottery a unique and personal experience!
