Reversible firefighter's hanten 半纏 (heavier weight coat made popular in the 18th century) . The coat is made from multiple layers of thickly woven cotton used to replace the intense cost of sashiko stiching 刺子 . Interior features tsutsugaki 筒描 (resist dying process). This particular jacket comes from a Shizuoka City 静岡市 Firefighter in the Shizuoka Prefecture. It belonged to a member of fire team six named Mr. Ikeda 池田 Cotton Indigo Meiji Period (1868-1912) 23.5" x 49" (width, height) FT-3013
