Kanto Hibachi Japanese Antique Brazier Table

Japanese antique Hibachi (brazier) like this were used with charcoal to heat water for tea and sake as well as provide heat for the room they are in.   This style is from the Tokyo/ Kanto plain region.    The wood selection and joinery is a bit fancier than most household items because it was used to entertain guests.  Keyaki - Japanese Elm Kurogaki Persimmon wood side handles and rim.  Copper hardware and lining Early 20th Century 17" x 30" x 16" (height, width, depth) Conserved by Shibui for the Northern American climate.
