This is a very famous and special Japanese woodblock print “Great Wave of Kanagawa” from the famous Edo woodblock print master Hokusai Katsushika (1760-1849) made in 1960s.  The woodblock print of “Great Wave of Kanagawa” from the famous Edo woodblock print master Hokusai Katsushika (1760-1849) published by Kyoto Hanga Printmaker is very hard to find today.  This woodblock print is part of a large number of Asian art and Japanese woodblock print collections in my family. We are gradually selling them.  Hokusai’s “Great Wave” represents one of his masterpieces. “Great Wave of Kanagawa ” not only contrasts the majestic strength of nature and diminutive stature of mankind, but it also represents the spirit of Japan.  The print is so strongly decorative in design that we almost tend to overlook the small boat sailing on for dear life as the sea batters it.  The size of this woodblock print is 15 3/4 x 10 1/2 inches.  The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers on the prints.
