Legendary King of the Britons This design was based on the legends of the historical King Arthur, who would have lived somewhere around the 5th century, supposedly one of the last holdouts of the Roman culture on the isle of Britannia. On the obverse is Arthur Pendragon and the inscription: Artorius dux Bellorum Brit, translating to Arthur, Warlord of the Britons. The reverse bears a victrix, a Roman-style female winged figure. This is thought to be related to the Norse concept of the Valkyrie, and to the later Christian imagery of angels. The inscription reads Mons Badonis, referring to Arthur's victory at Badon Hill. The mintmark PCAM refers to Camelot.     Solid .900 silver, 2.4 grams - 1/13 troy ounce 2 cm diameter Designed and engraved by Greg Franck-Weiby. Learn more about our artists. © Shire Post Mint.
