Nontron knives (named after their village of birth) have inspired many legends dating back to the 15th century. Heirs of a long local cutlery tradition, the Coutellerie Nontronnaise remains the only manufacture to produce Nontron. Still making everything “by hand” with the same gestures as their ancestors: sawing the boxwood and turning the sleeves, assembly, pyrography, and finishing with their distinctive wood burned symbol.
