"Phil's Bromeliads"

Bring a bit of tropical color into that drab, dull room! This piece was inspired by a man named Phil, a seller of bromeliads of all shapes and sizes. These two caught my eye, I snapped a photo, and rushed to the studio to capture the quiet strength of these remarkable specimens. This bold botanical was painted with acrylic paint on a 40" x 30" canvas. The flowers are the stars, but I love all the movement amongst the greenery and shadows.
