In this unit, students read two texts that deal with themes about identity and fitting in, following narrators who are trying to come to terms with who they are and how they are seen by their peers and the adults around them. Through their work with the two texts, students explore the use of point of view and the elements of both Green's and Rivera's, the authors of the texts, style to analyze both texts and develop literary interpretations.
