Originally designed in 1945 for Gino of Capri restaurant, affectionately known as “Gino’s” by New Yorkers, Scalamandré restored the Zebras wallcovering at this iconic Upper East Side establishment in 1973 after the walls were damaged by fire. Flora Scalamandré, wife of Franco Scalamandré, skillfully hand-drew the signature motif, which would later become the renowned Scalamandré Zebras design.
