HELMET: "BORN ANNOYING: ORIGINAL DEMO" CD
When writing about this release, it seemed like the best way to do it was to just use the description that Tom Hazelmyer wrote about it on social media. Here's what he said... "So 35 years ago I did a 7” with an unknown NYC band taken from a 4 song demo. I got to see Helmet live for the first time not long after that. In the short time in between those two events they had evolved into the behemoth the world saw and heard when 'Strap It On’ LP hit the streets. In a lifetime of music experiences it was one of my most memorable for sure. One growth of a middle-aged adult time span later, here we are. The original sleeve was designed by drummer John Stanier. The austerity of it was a head scratcher to me at the time, as I was busy doing untrained ballistic vomit as my design work. It took me a while to really grasp his approach, and I think I melded John’s original vibe to my current sloppy ballistic linocut shit show art pretty well. I’m not big on “glory days” as Ive always felt there’
