It’s graceful, quietly complex, and endlessly drinkable.  Grown by the women producers of Idjwi Island, this lot comes from members of Rebuild Women’s Hope, a cooperative founded by Marcelline Budza to return economic power and autonomy to women in a coffee system that has historically excluded them. Through this work, women are gaining access to income, land, education, healthcare, and clean water for their communities - and producing some of the most exciting coffees in the region.  Coffee from the DRC is still relatively rare on the specialty landscape, but lots like this show exactly why that’s changing. This coffee is a dynamic and tea-like slow sipper, with a clarity that reflects the volcanic soils and high elevations of Lake Kivu.
