Thorium Water Test
Recommended for targeted testing for thorium in drinking water. Thorium, a naturally occurring radioactive metal, is ubiquitous in the environment and can be found in rocks, soil, water, and air due to natural weathering and volcanic eruptions. However, additional sources of thorium contamination include close proximity to: mines, milling, metal processing operations, and fertilizer production sites. Little evidence exists on the specific health effects of thorium, but ionizing radiation as a result of radioactive decay is a potential cause of DNA changes (genotoxicity) and cancer. Therefore the International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified thorium as carcinogenic to humans. This Tap Score water test package provides all required materials to properly collect and submit a sample for certified laboratory testing. Reported results will include detailed, quantified analysis of total thorium concentration.
