I have about 5 or 6 quick workers that are always done with their work way before the rest of the class. This is a perfect LONG-TERM activity where students can use their spelling words, high-frequency words, or weekly vocabulary words to work on in this mini-book. This can be used for a month’s worth of words and keep those “early finishers” working when the other students are still finishing their work! This activity can be used by making a class book. Each child can complete their own page in the book using their own first name and last name and it can be placed in the class library for the students to read. This activity can also be used in a Language Arts or Math Center. All you have to add to the center is a class list and recording sheets for the students to complete. They can use the class list to add the names to their recording sheet to complete the activity. If you use the product in this way, I would suggest copying the pages on a regular-sized paper and not in a mini-book. It can be used as a “Scoot” game. The students can use their name tags that are on their desks or create a name tag on a sentence strip or construction paper. The students “scoot” around the room going from desk to desk and use their friends names to complete the fact family, number bond, and tens frames using the consonants and vowels in each name they write down in their mini-book. Just photocopy enough pages in a back-to-back format and run it through the copy machine. Fold the mini-book in half and you have a GREAT math activity that encompasses literacy, spelling, number sense and movement.
