Kentucky’s 1992 senior class would go down in Wildcat basketball lore as “The Unforgettables”. The class consisted of John Pelphrey, Sean Woods, Deron Feldhaus and Richie Farmer. They were the 4 sophomores who stuck around during the summer of ‘88 after UK hired a new athletic director, CM Newton, and a new head coach, Rick Pitino. Pitino’s first season ended with a 14-14 record but help was on the way. The addition of Jamal Mashburn during the ‘90-91 season had the Wildcats poised to make a tourney run in ‘92. Kentucky won the SEC East and the SEC Tournament, earning a No. 2 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament. After wins over Old Dominion, Iowa State and UMass, the Wildcats were one win away from the Final Four. Waiting for them was Mike Krzyzewski and the defending National Champion Duke Blue Devils.
