The almighty F-fly is 100% my favorite dry fly! It’s the Walts Worm of dries, and I am a sucker for all purpose patterns. I do quite a bit of light and/or technical dry dropping with the F-fly as it frequently gets a good pocket water reaction rise, but I wanted a version that could support more weight while keeping the small-ish and delicate profile with little wind resistance. By adding a foam “boobie eye” under the cdc wing the fly has become more buoyant without sacrificing the soft landing. Topped off with a hi vis polypropylene post for added flotation and visibility makes this one mean function driven pattern!
