African Basil is known as Ocimum Gratissimum, and Clove Basil, or Wild Basil in Hawaii.  This herb will spread if not contained. This herb comes from Ghana and does well in the heat. It's native to Africa, Madagascar, and southern Asia.  This herb is ideal for making pesto or to add to pasta, soups, and salads because of its rich basil taste with a hint of oregano. It's also perfect to use in vinegar.  GROWING INFO:  Plant spacing:  14-24" apart. Plant size:  48-72" tall. Sprouts:  6-10 days Maturity:  60-90 days. Water:  Water regularly during the hot months. Sun:  African Nunum loves sunny days with partial shade.  Soil:  Use moderately rich soil. Prune:  Pinch off center shoots to encourage branching and prevent flowering too early.
