Photographing the Scottish Moors for National Geographic I desperately wanted an image that would speak to the surpassing beauty of these remote lands, as well as featuring the iconic Scots pine trees that are so representative of this ancient landscape. Wee Island in the Calm has captured the imagination of many viewers. We published it as a coveted gatefold in our National Geographic story and it was, perhaps, the best selling image ever in the National Geographic Fine Art Galleries.
